About Active Care Services:
Active Care Youth and Adult Services is an innovative organization operating staffed residential resources for children, youth, and adults in BC for 25 years. It is our mandate to provide support services of exceptional quality and to do so in the context of a family home environment.
Goals, Growth and Development:
Our organization’s goal is to support and develop relationships with communities throughout the province of BC. In Kamloops, we currently operate 40 staffed resources and have approximately 200 employees. We are currently opening resources in Kamloops, Kelowna, Enderby, Merritt, Prince Rupert, and Terrace.
Overnight Awake Residence Worker Roles and Responsibilities within Active Care Services:
As a overnight awake support worker with Active Care Youth and Adult Services, you will play a vital role in our organization. Your job will be rewarding, challenging, and ever changing. Duties include but are not limited to staying awake through the night supporting the youth through complex behavioural challenges, and all aspects of maintaining and taking care of a household.
Shifts are 9:30pm-9:30am or 7:00pm-7:00am (subject to change) depending on the individual youth’s needs.
Active Care Services Expectations of Overnight Awake Residence Workers:
It is our expectation that you will promote and reflect a positive team atmosphere when supporting our youth. This also includes professionalism when you are representing Active Care Youth and Adult Services in the community and/or when you identify yourself as an employee of Active Care Youth and Adult Services. Our expectation is that you stay awake during each graveyard shift, supporting our youth throughout the night based on their personalized care requirements.

Employment Requirements:
The requirements to apply for this position include but are not limited to:
– This position requires union membership
– Extensive experience and education relating to human services
– Two work references, One personal reference
– Class 5 Driver’s License
– Driver’s Abstract
– Out-of-Country Criminal Record Check (for individuals who have resided in Canada less than 5 years)
Available Position Details:
Casual and or Full-time is available
This position is open to male, female and LGBTQ applicants
Shifts are 12 hr day supports, 12 hr overnight awake, and 12 hr overnight sleep. Sleep is on site in a private staff room.
For Northern resources, shifts are 1 week on 1 week off.
